Dave seems to have been born with radio in his blood. Tinkering with electronics, at the age of 12, he started his own low wattage AM station in an abandon building near his home. At the age of 15 he was given his first official radio job at a local Kentucky AM station. His radio career continued to develop and expand to other stations as he moved into Broadcast Engineering and obtained his Federal Communication Commission First-Class License. Several years later, he switched careers and moved into Industrial Automation and Instrumentation where he found a home for 26 years. After taking an early retirement, he was approached by a friend who owned a group of five radio stations in central Kentucky where he served as a contract engineer and occasionally did fill-in for air work. His hobbies include the collection and restoration of antique radios, ham radio, and a bit of fishing. In the fall of 2015 he and his wife Kathy moved to Palm Coast, met Vern Shank and is now is having fun as “Brother Dave” on 93.7 “The Surf”.
